Active Women:Poetry in Motion

There’s nothing more beautiful than a body in motion. Call me sexist or ageist, but especially if that body is young, fit and female.

I just loved opening Tuesday’s Washington Post to not 1, not 2, but 3 large, full-color photos of young women in motion.

  • Front page: 2 sisters running freely through the rough at Congressional Country Club, host of the US Open golf tournament
  • Metro section: 5 8th graders from Wisconsin on a visit to the Washington Monument jumping in unison, surrounded by fifty flags on Flag Day
  • Sports section: Ali Krieger, US Women’s National team defender readying to play the ball, having overcome a nearly fatal blood clot to battle back to play the game she loves

Ali Krieger Eyes Women’s World Cup Competition

Women’s World Cup action begins June 26th. These young, athletic women are inspiring the next generation of girls to be powerful, graceful and fit. And oh yeah, stylish. Check out the blue fingernails on Ali.

Poetry in motion. Absolute beauty.

Game on.
