Ways to add cardio-fitness to your field activities
- Expand the size of your playing area.
- Decrease the number of players in the space (play 4v4 or 6v6).
- Require an immediate action from each player after they have played the ball.
- Require all players to touch the ball before they can shoot/score.
- Reward movement.
Fitness Games
- Run relays (longer relay legs require endurance, shorter with smaller teams build sprint speed)
- Indian Runs (team distance run with trailing player over-taking front runner until completed for team; builds teamwork, cooperation, endurance and sprint speed)
- Competitive Indian Run (divide team in half and see which team can cover circumference of the field first)
- Tag – with or without the ball (can add resistance bands to increase challenge)
